Winter Pine​

Winter Pine is essentially a 'reading post' located among the dense woods, where an occupant can retreat to gather his or her thoughts, while engaging with literature.

The idea is to understand how an occupant can maintain a connection with its environment while retaining the quality of a personalized studio. This can be achieved by introducing natural light via light wells; light that bends, bounces off surfaces and change while the occupant is utilizing the reading post. 

​

Greenery can compliment the natural lighting allowing for a sense of growth and movement within the design. Portions of the interior are opened and exposed to the elements, inviting the greenery to grow, shed its leaves, wither away, and re-grow during its seasonal life cycle.
